EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT
The educational component of the internship is conducted at the departments responsible for the training of medical interns.
The duration of the educational component is three months per academic year.
Supervision and control over the training of specialists in the internship are carried out by supervisors appointed by the Rector’s order.
PRACTICAL COMPONENT
The practical component of the internship takes place at clinical training bases — healthcare institutions of state, municipal, or private ownership, as well as healthcare institutions under the management of other ministries.
The duration of the practical component is eight months per academic year.
The head of the clinical base where the medical intern undergoes practical training issues an order on the intern’s admission to the practical part of the internship without formal employment.
Training is carried out according to the approved schedule of the educational and practical components of the internship.
ASSESSMENT MEASURES FOR INTERNSHIP COMPLETION

Upon completion of the internship, medical interns undergo a final assessment in the form of certification to evaluate their knowledge and practical skills for awarding the title of “Medical Specialist” in the corresponding specialty. This procedure is carried out in accordance with the Regulation approved by the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated February 22, 2019, No. 446, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on March 25, 2019, under No. 293/33264.
An interim assessment is conducted based on the results of the educational component to evaluate the completion of the internship program.
Only those medical interns who have fully completed the internship program and academic plan, and who have successfully passed the Krok-3 licensing integrated exam, are admitted to the final certification for awarding the title of “Medical Specialist.”
Medical interns have the right to retake the certification for the evaluation of their knowledge and practical skills, and for the award of the title “Medical Specialist,” once within three years, but not earlier than one year after being denied the award of the title.
